Tea is part of a mindful diet as long as it isn’t adulterated with sweeteners to the point of being like a soft drink. It’s the center of your spiritual weight loss plan. The easiest way to lose weight is by becoming mindful, with a little Help from God.
A study completed in the summer of 2006 made waves by showing that 1/4 of the average American’s calories each day comes from sugary drinks like soda. Those sweet beverages also account for more than 1/3 of all the added sugars consumed in a typical day.
The study revealed the ugly truth in one simple fact: liquid calories don’t fill people up as much as do solid-food calories. Therefore people don’t eat less even when they get more calories from beverages. And so those sweet drinks are linked to weight gain.
A year earlier in the middle of 2005 another smashing study came out. It showed that people who drink diet sodas are at even greater risk of obesity than those who drink regular sodas and get all those extra calories.
Finally, in August 2009 a study came out that looked at why people drink those sweetened drinks with all that added sugar. And the reason they come up with is this: it’s mindless.
Kids especially think they “should” drink sodas when they get together, and they want to be like the celebrities they see promoting it with product endorsements. And a big contributor to mindless eating is television viewing–they drink sodas without thinking in front of the TV.
Adults who keep up such mindless eating end up overweight or obese. In the beginning the soft drinks were a celebration and a lot of fun socially. After not many years, the weight gain wasn’t a party anymore.
Tea is the cornerstone of a mindful diet. Start drinking more tea for the health of not only your body, but also of your mind and spirit. Begin to notice what ingredients are in your food and how many calories too.
Those are the first steps to becoming mindful. Just look at when and why and what you eat. Become aware of it. And add tea to your diet without any sugar or honey (or milk) in it. Once you’re mindful you’ll find that it’s rather easy to eat less. And you’ll start to heal.
